Griffiths & Armour Professional Risks officially launched their whitepaper ‘Constructing Change: Evolving the status quo or chance to reset?’ at the spectacular venue, Searcys at The Gherkin . This whitepaper identifies and addresses a number of pressing challenges faced by the construction, insurance and legal sectors. These issues were highlighted by our clients and discussed at a series of roundtable events held by Griffiths & Armour over the last two years and were singled out as being major barriers to our client’s ability to operate and their long-term sustainability. The areas of concern were varied, complex and often difficult to solve. In most cases requiring major cultural change and a rethink around the way the legal, engineering and insurance industries operate. The whitepaper concludes that change is something that cannot happen without collective and collaborative effort. Our aspiration, intention and commitment, therefore, is to help facilitate this required shift in approach. The Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors ’ new Internal Audit Code of Practice comes into effect on 1 January 2025 and aligns with new Global Internal Audit Standards and forthcoming UK Corporate Governance changes. The Code applies to organisations in the financial services, private and third sectors (e.g. charities) in the UK and Ireland that have an internal audit function, and a Board Audit Committee comprised of independent non-executive directors or their equivalents. https://lnkd.in/edUNx2ax

Griffiths & Armour Professional Risks recently produced two mock mediation events in partnership with Kennedys Law – one in central London and the other in Manchester city centre. The dramatised, fictitious scenario related to a claim by a disgruntled homeowner against her builder and professional team – both architect and engineer – concerning a multitude of defects to a newly built home which the homeowner alleged needed to be demolished as a result. The script touched upon a number of significant legal issues, including some recent case law, and illustrated how they might affect the outcome of a complex and high-value multi-party construction dispute. https://lnkd.in/eSb-fJ89
