Grupo Arania is one of the main European reference points in the field of steel processing. Founded in 1940, its constant commitment to human capital and cutting-edge technology has made the Group one of the biggest names in the sector and consolidated its presence in the biggest international markets. 

On July 9th, the II Sustainability Committee of the 2024 Group took place, during which we reviewed the progress of the first half of our management plan and outlined the pending actions for the second half of 2024.

On this occasion, the committee met at the AR Racking | Storage Solutions facilities in Tudela, where we evaluated our progress and exchanged ideas and synergies between the different companies.

Collaboration is key to achieving our sustainability goals, and this team is excited to continue working together.

#Digitalization and #AI have great potential in the steel industry. Grupo Arania, of which Aratubo is a part, aims for all its Stakeholders to reach a high level of digitalization, especially regarding online certifications and the application of AI in decarbonization processes and green steel manufacturing.
 
At Aratubo | Precision Steel Tubes, digital tools and artificial intelligence are being integrated into processes and the development of new products and demanding manufacturing tasks. An internal team, led by their R&D&i manager, Andres Portela del Rio, is dedicated to identifying and prioritizing manufacturing challenges and new materials to develop scalable solutions with 4.0 technology.
 
Last Thursday, June 27th, the event "The Future is Now: IoT in Business," organized by Euskadiko Parke Teknologikoa - Parque Tecnológico de Euskadi  - Basque Technology Park, took place. At the event, Andres Portela shared that they have launched several innovative projects, including the digitalization of manufacturing through IoT and BI, optimizing production lines, and creating dashboards for data analysis and decision-making. They are also optimizing warehouse logistics with artificial intelligence, improving efficiency, and reducing costs.

Arantxa Tapia, the regional Minister for Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment, and Mikel Amundarain Leibar, regional Vice Minister of Industry, visited Grupo Arania's plant in Amorebieta, showing again the Ekonomiaren Garapena - Desarrollo Económico [EJ-GV] ongoing support to the growth, job sustainability, and innovation in the Basque region.
Grupo Arania had a chance to share challenges such as the electrification of vehicles, the decarbonization of steel or abstenteeism, along with recent achievements such as acquiring the company LAMINCER precision steel and further expanding into the US and Italy. The visit included a tour of the precision cold-rolled strip factory, where they could witness the high levels of automation and digitalization that have transformed this plant and made it leader in the south of Europe. Grupo Arania expresses gratitude for the Ministry’s support and thanks the Minister and Vice Minister for their visit.
