GSI Welcomes Lisa Reyenga as Senior Environmental Engineer! We are pleased to introduce Lisa Reyenga as the newest addition to our team at GSI! Lisa brings over 15 years of expertise in environmental consulting, specializing in the assessment and remediation of contaminated soil, sediment, and groundwater. With a master’s degree from MIT and a professional engineering license in Environmental Engineering in Colorado, Lisa has a remarkable track record of managing complex projects for both regulatory agencies and private clients. Her work includes innovative solutions for sites with non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPLs), leveraging advanced site assessment techniques to develop remediation strategies that align with client goals and regulatory standards. Beyond her technical skills, Lisa actively contributes to the field through her roles as editor and board chair of the “Applied NAPL Science Review” and as an author and trainer for the Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council (ITRC). Her commitment to pushing the industry forward and sharing knowledge makes her an invaluable addition to GSI. Congratulations to Janet Anderson PhD DABT , on this thought-provoking op-ed, ‘Pipes Over PFAS’! As environmental and water quality issues continue to evolve, it’s critical to consider the full spectrum of public health impacts, from emerging contaminants to the resilience of our infrastructure, and the limited resources to effectively address either and/or both. Thank you for shedding light on these priorities and proposing a forward-thinking vision for the next 50 years of the SDWA!

We are pleased to announce our latest publication, "Bridging the Technology Gap for Cost-Effective and Sustainable Treatment of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances in Surface Water and Stormwater," co-authored by GSI’s Jeff Gamlin , Hassan Javed, Ph.D. , Chuck Newell , Emily Stockwell , and Renee Caird, PG , along with Joseph Scalia IV of Colorado State University , and Divina Angela Navarro and John Awad of CSIRO . This study explores potential mechanisms that may be required to achieve nature-based treatment strategies to mitigate PFAS contamination in surface water and stormwater. Enhancing PFAS accumulation in natural organic foams, along with the demonstrated ability of PFAS retention in floating wetlands, may allow for a cost-effective and sustainable treatment approach compared to existing constructed mechanical systems.
