#Sustainability continues to be a major focus for our company and business aviation as a global industry. For the past two decades, we have been innovating for a more sustainable future. It is built into our core business and is a key pillar in our long-term strategy. As we work to ensure that Gulfstream Aerospace continues to deliver against its stated industry goals, I’m pleased to share that we have added a new role: Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer. In this role, Smitha Hariharan will help to drive Gulfstream’s sustainable transformation by aligning our business strategies with ongoing sustainability principles.  

Gulfstream understands that advancing in this arena goes well beyond perfecting and sourcing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), requiring comprehensive and ongoing analysis of the full scope of business practices – including design, manufacturing, supply chain, facilities and much more. 

Gulfstream has long been an innovator in this space, with our next-generation fleet offering as much as 33% fuel-efficiency gains over predecessor models. We’ve reduced our greenhouse gas emissions by 18% since 2014 while expanding facilities by 30%. And in November 2023, we completed the world’s first trans-Atlantic flight on 100% SAF in both engines. But there is more work to be done. 

Adding this critical role is an important next step in Gulfstream’s story of continuous improvement – one that will help us continue to maintain our leadership as sustainability innovators.
