Unconscious bias 🧠 is a term we hear frequently today, especially in conversations about workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion. But what exactly is unconscious bias, and why should we care about it? At its core, unconscious bias refers to the automatic attitudes or stereotypes that influence our understanding and decisions without us realizing it. Our brains rely on shortcuts to process information, but when applied to people, these shortcuts can lead to unintended judgments that contradict our conscious beliefs. In the workplace, this can affect hiring, promotions, and interactions, creating missed opportunities for inclusion. Recognizing our own biases allows us to make fairer decisions, embrace diverse perspectives, and foster a more inclusive culture. We recognize the importance of this, that is why we are implementing training across Höganäs globally to address unconscious bias head-on. In English 👇 . 💡Det här projektet är ett inspirerande exempel på hur vi, tillsammans med Kappahl Group , RISE Research Institutes of Sweden och BioInnovation , kan göra konkret skillnad för en mer hållbar framtid. Projektet bygger på idén att omvandla textilavfall 🧦👕 , som annars skulle brännas, till biokol – ett alternativ som skulle kunna minska behovet av fossilt kol i stålindustrin. För oss är uttjänta textilier en särskilt intressant råvara eftersom de, till skillnad från trä, i stort sett saknar andra användningsområden. Ekonomin och hållbarheten i vår process kan stärkas med kol från en sådan biprodukt, vilket ger både miljö- och ekonomiska fördelar för oss och våra partners. Detta initiativ är inte bara ett steg mot vårt mål om netto noll-utsläpp i egen produktion till 2030 🏭➡️0️⃣, utan också ett bidrag till en cirkulär ekonomi och nya innovativa lösningar för textilåtervinning. Using coal from such byproducts could enhance both the economics and sustainability of our process, creating environmental and financial benefits for us and our partners. This initiative not only moves us closer to our goal of net-zero emissions in our own production by 2030 🏭➡️0️⃣, but also supports a circular economy and innovative solutions for textile recycling. We are currently attending #WorldPM2024 in Yokohama, Japan, where over 1,400 participants, including around 75 exhibitors, have gathered to explore the latest developments in powder metallurgy. Today, we hosted a special customer dinner titled "We gather together for World PM", bringing together 200 guests, including the Swedish Ambassador Viktoria Li , our CEO Henrik Ager , and our Market President for Japan Shoei Katano .
