White Hydrogen, made by nature. Cleaner, greener, and cheaper to produce using conventional oil and gas techniques, white hydrogen could revolutionise industry and economies worldwide. White hydrogen is naturally occurring and, as such, could have much lower production costs and carbon emissions than hydrogen separated from natural gas or electrolysed from water. At HyTerra’s Nemaha Project, rainwater seeps underground where it reacts at high temperatures with iron-rich rocks to make hydrogen. This process is called “rusting”. White hydrogen is brought to surface using conventional oil and gas techniques, and as an energy-dense, low carbon fuel source, it has the potential to revolutionise industry and economies worldwide. ‘Big Dogs’ keep adding bite for junior mining partners HyTerra has been featured in The West Australian’s big dogs feature series. Fortescue’s potential investment in HyTerra continues to be big news as this recent article shows. The Fortescue investment funds will enable the expansion of the exploration drill program at HyTerra’s Nemaha project in the State of Kansas in the United States. Why hydrogen? Hydrogen is the world's wonder element. The demand for hydrogen reached an estimated 87 million tonnes (Mt) in 2020 and is expected to grow as much as 580 Mt by 2050. Today, hydrogen is used to refine oil and produce ammonia and methanol. Tomorrow, it will be an energy-dense, low-carbon fuel option for transportation and manufacturing, and used to store and generate electricity.
