💡 Performing an internal audit is a KO Requirement in the IFS PACsecure standard. According to Requirement 5.1.1, you must document, implement, and maintain an effective internal audit program and ensure that all the requirements of the standard are audited.

1️⃣ The 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 is an Excel spreadsheet that enables internal auditors to enter their findings, score the results, create an action plan, and print an audit report. This option is versatile as it can be utilised by anyone conducting an IFS PACsecure internal audit.

2️⃣ 𝗜𝗙𝗦 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗫𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝗼 (𝗔𝗫𝗣 𝗡𝗲𝗼) is a PC Windows application for IFS PACsecure certified companies. The software makes internal audit reporting easy and is free of charge. It enables you to assess your product safety and quality management system effectively, receive scores immediately to identify areas for improvement, generate the internal audit report, and share the report with your IFS Auditor as he or she uses the same software.

💡 Since 1 July 2024, PACsecure 3 audits are possible and will become mandatory on 1 October 2024. PACsecure 3 will apply for unannounced audits if the audit window begins on or after 1 October 2024. 

👀 Version 3 contains 4 new requirements and a reminder of the product safety culture requirement that you should pay extra attention to: 

1. Hazard and risk management system validation/re-validation
2. Chemicals handling 
3. Criteria for environmental monitoring program
4. Corrections for deviations and non-conformities
5. Specific objectives to be defined for each of the 4 pillars of product safety culture 

 🔍 We launched version 3 of the IFS PACsecure standard in February 2024. The new version has fewer requirements, a restructured checklist and a new modern logo. Further updates concern the scoring system and the introduction of the star status to indicate an unannounced audit. All these updates make working with the standard more efficient for all parties involved.

📦 The guideline relates to the IFS Food Standard. It is a supporting document that improves communication and cooperation between IFS certified companies and their packaging materials suppliers.

➡️ An overview of current EU legislation and general definitions;

Let's look at how retailers are using IFS Progress to improve the product safety competence of their suppliers. 👀

We received some insightful feedback from Merve Öztürk, Product Safety Projects Manager at Migros Ticaret:

"As Migros, we have been conducting product safety audits for our existing and candidate suppliers with the IFS Progress Program, formerly Global Markets, for years. We inspect our food suppliers with IFS Progress Food, non-food suppliers with IFS Progress HPC, and our distribution centre operations with IFS Progress Logistics and follow developments", she explains.

"The purpose of our supplier audits is to encourage the continuous improvement of our suppliers in terms of product safety and to create opportunities to provide real 'capability building' in the production sector", Merve clarifies. 

She further outlines the benefits for her suppliers: For instance, our existing and candidate suppliers who want to become Migros suppliers have the opportunity to improve themselves with these assessments. They can even become eligible to receive internationally valid certificates, which can open the door to the world to make exportations. 

"For this reason, the new brand name 'IFS Progress' for the supplier development programmes reflects its most important purpose even more clearly and distinctly", she emphasises.
