If you want to get a sneak peek into the tribal way of life and their culture, the annual Hornbill Festival in Nagaland is your best chance.

Organised between December 1-10 every year, the venue of the Hornbill Festival is the Naga Tribal Village in Kisama, which is 12km from Kohima on the National Highway 39. 

The Hornbill Festival is organised by the Department of State Tourism and the Department of Art and Culture and has been an annual event since 2000.

Nagaland is home to several ethnic groups and all of them take part in this festival.

"Unlike many other various other parts of the world, Nagaland has its own heritage which is neither crafted nor curated. It is a platform where all 17 tribes of the state come together and showcase their culture to the people," Nagaland Tourism Minister Temjen Imna Along, said.

Along with the traditional arts and crafts, the Hornbill Festival also opens up the window of Nagalands's rich culinary options to visitors from across India and outside.

Just walking on the roads of Delhi can be a perilous move, data from the Delhi Traffic Police has shown.

According to Delhi Traffic Police, in 2022, a total of 629 pedestrians were killed in accidents, which is around 43 per cent of all the fatalities on the road in the national capital.

The data showed that 1,461 deaths were reported in road accidents in Delhi in 2022.

In addition to the fatalities, 1,777 pedestrians were injured in road accidents in the national capital.

Motorcyclists are the next most vulnerable category and accounted for 552 (37.78 per cent) fatalities and 2,263 (43.49 per cent) injuries among victims of road accidents in Delhi in 2022, the police said.

Fatal crashes involving two-wheelers increased in 2022. Two-wheeler riders injured in accidents also increased from 1,868 in 2021 to 2,263 in 2022. The crash data revealed that two-wheeler riders were victims in one of every three deaths or injuries.

Cyclists accounted for 2-4% of all road crash victims. 

The proportion of cyclists killed (3.2% in 2022 against 3.6% in 2021) and injured (2.5% in 2022 against 2.8% in 2021) was less last year compared to 2021.
