Greetings, architectural visionaries and design majors! Autodesk is hosting a current design challenge for you: MAKE IT SMALL ARCHITECTURE STUDENT CONTEST What if you can design a small space, such as a tiny home, shed, closet, pet house, etc, that has an oversized impact to benefit the environment? I just wanted to update you guys on the current design competition, the deadline has been extended to January 13th. Ten Judge’s Prizes will be awarded to standout Instructables that showcase the most impressive use of Autodesk software in creating their small space. The prizes would be gift cards, ranging from $500 - $100! I have already submitted my design to the competition! This project was a fantastic exercise, and I thoroughly enjoyed working on the tiny home. It allowed me to effectively apply my current architecture education/training, hone my skills in AutoCAD, and explore new tools like D5 Render. This experience was not only a valuable addition to my portfolio but also a great opportunity to enhance my work ethic and efficiency in completing projects within tight deadlines. To alleviate the labor shortage and sustain the future of the industry for the long-term, construction needs to go beyond just drawing in talent. The next generation of builders must also be equipped with the digital skills and mindset that will enable them to not only find their way into the field, but also to thrive and continue to evolve once they get there. #CareersInConstructionMonth is about shaping positive perceptions of the industry, while also helping the next generation see themselves in it. We recently had the opportunity to speak with four of Autodesk 's Make It Resilient Challenge student winners to learn about what motivates them and their insights into what makes the construction industry appealing to youth. We also had the chance to hear from the contest judges, who are #AECO industry experts, about how they stay inspired in their careers and the advice they have for students.
