Following a Marketing Workflow is a bit like making a birthday cake.

Both involve creativity…but if you don’t follow a process…things fall flat.

Whether you’re managing a major campaign with hundreds of creative assets or rushing a one-off social ad out the door, you need to make sure it answers the brief, is on brand and approved by legal.

Sometimes we tell scary stories. Not the far fetched kind involving things that go bump in the night, but real-life horror stories surrounding marketing compliance breaches, which, if you’re a CMO, can be more frightening than any ghost or jump scare.

Take these recent run-ins between corporations and the FTC and SEC.

The FTC recently ruled Turbotax owner Intuit engaged in deceptive advertising. It claimed the company  "advertised to consumers that they could file their taxes online for free using TurboTax, when in truth, for approximately two-thirds of taxpayers, the advertised claim was false,". The ruling is currently being appealed.

Last month the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ordered nine investment advisory firms to pay a combined $850,000 in civil penalties for advertising hypothetical performance without implementing new policies required by regulators.

The penalties for falling foul of regulators can be chilling. The good news is there are tools available to help make marketing compliance far less dicey. Look for solutions that offer:
