Our team spoke to visiting Grade 9 students about the exciting work we do, sparking curiosity and excitement among the group. It was a day filled with exploration, learning, and meaningful connections. 💫

Today team Joe Fresh celebrated our annual ‘Thanks To You’ social event at our head office. Thanks To You is a way we recognize our teams and the amazing work they do everyday. To celebrate, we hosted a series of events including: breakfast, lunch, snacks, games and raffles. Teamwork makes the dream work!

Yesterday we welcomed The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund to Joe Fresh HQ for an educational session about the history and ongoing impact of the residential school system, the importance of the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples, and DWF’s work to move reconciliation forward. The Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack Fund is a longtime partner of Loblaw and the charitable partner for our National Day for Truth and Reconciliation collaboration with Born in the North. 100% of proceeds from this collection will donated to DWF’s vital work. Thank you to Dorothy Peters as well as DWF’s Director of Marketing and Communications, Amanda Charles and Director of Development; Angela Reid .

To honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation we partnered with Chris Mitchell & Gregory Mitchell of Born In The North to design an orange shirt. Raised in Halifax (Kjipuktuk) and now based in Toronto (Tkaranto) these Mi’kmaq artists explore the bond between humanity and nature. Their art brings visibility to the richness of contemporary Indigenous artistry. 100% of sales proceeds from this collection will be donated to The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund . This week, at Joe Fresh HQ, we hosted a fireside chat with Ian Metcalfe , Director of Visual Merchandising at Joe Fresh and Ross Wicks, Sponsorship and Fundraising Director at pflag Canada . Ross shared the history and importance of Pride and Ian, who created the artwork for this collection spoke to his experience as the first DEI collaborator at Joe Fresh, including his design process. On June 12th, we commemorated the opening of our first Legacy Space at the Loblaw Companies Limited office at Presidents Choice Circle with our long-standing partner The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund . We welcomed Sarah Midanik, Patrick Downie and team members from The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund , Chief Claire Sault and Elder Garry Sault of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nations, Philip Cote, and The Aazhibik Singers. We’re proud to open this Legacy Space as a safe, welcoming place where conversations and education about the true history of Canada will be encouraged and supported. Each unique Legacy Space provides an opportunity to bring Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples together. It is a space to build meaningful connections and cultural understanding while ensuring that Indigenous perspectives are represented and celebrated. Our Legacy Space is also the first one in Canada to feature audio recordings of the artist, Philip Cote. The recordings pay homage to the deep traditions of Indigenous Oral History while meeting accessibility needs. This physical space is a symbol of our continued commitment to enhancing reconciliation and inclusion of Indigenous Peoples – in our workplace and in the communities we serve. We’re honoured to continue our relationship with The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund through an upcoming partnership between The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund and Joe Fresh later this year. This week, our team proudly gathered for a Pride flag raising event at Joe Fresh HQ, where we shared the meaning behind Pride, the symbolism of each colour on the flag and kicked off a roster of events taking place this month. Pride season is an opportunity for us to reflect on progress made towards 2SLGBTQIA+ rights, and to acknowledge that there is still work to be done. This month and year-round, we recognize the achievements and resiliency of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Raising this flag demonstrates our unwavering support towards fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels accepted. Happy Pride! 🏳️🌈

Meet Cindy Jun ! We asked Cindy a few questions about her role, see what she had to say below: What does your job entail? There’s a joke amongst those who work in social media that we have to wear all hats: strategy, customer service, photography/videography, graphic design, video/photo editing, copywriting, styling, and often times modelling too! Planning and creating social content across multiple platforms keeps me very busy but one thing it is not, is boring! Who inspired you to pursue the career you have today? It’s not a specific who, but I think growing up as a kid in the 2000s and watching films set in the fashion industry had a big influence on me, namely 13 Going on 30, The Devil Wears Prada. They are classics in my roster! And although it is not like how it is the movies, there are so many fun opportunities I’ve been afforded in my career that I know my childhood-self would be thrilled by. Meet Elisa Punzo ! We asked Elisa a few questions about her role, see what she had to say below: How long have you been with Joe Fresh, and what do you do here? I am the Social Media Manager at Joe Fresh and have been with the company for more than three years. You can say I wear many hats, from content creation and editing, overseeing the social calendar, developing and executing our social media strategy across all platforms while also working cross functionally with all teams across the Loblaw enterprise. As we continue to see social media rapidly evolve, it challenges me to constantly think creatively, use my voice and connect with our community. What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far? As cliché as this may sound it’s something I always stand by, and that is – don’t be afraid to try new things! Especially as someone who works in the social space things are always evolving and you must not be afraid to try something new. If it fails, you take what you learned and do better the next time. I always try to find the silver lining and take every mistake as a lesson to learn for next time. You will never get what you want if you don’t try and go for it.
