We started in 2015 by giving Bharat access to stories of relatable role models and building what is now one of India's largest regional content distribution networks. In 2020, we launched our app to help the youth of Bharat speak English without hesitation. The app generated powerful user feedback with industry-leading retention rates, unlocking new employment opportunities for our users.

As of January 2024, our content has garnered 3+ Billion lifetime views with an average of 200+ Million monthly views across platforms. The Josh Talks English Speaking app has 9+ Million downloads and 500,000+ paid users who used our flagship peer-to-peer feature and spent 270+ Million minutes practicing English.

With partners such as Amazon, Meta, Diageo, and more, we continue to scale for new solutions to mobilise the next half billion and work with communities across India to create a SDG-realised future.

We welcomed our Top 16 for City Champions 2024 with a power-packed kick off event at IIM Calcutta campus from 29th-01st August. Here are the snippets from the 4-day bootcamp -

The event began with a warm welcome session and program introduction with a fun ice-breaker activity. One of the highlights of the day was a panel discussion on leveraging government partnerships, featuring insights from Nidish Nair, Partner at PWC; Vibhu Goel, IAS and Project Director of KEIIP; Dr. Dipankar Chakrabarti, Founder of CtoE Consultancy Services moderated by Shilpa Kumar, Partner at Omidyar Network India.

Dr. Subhrangshu Sanyal, CEO - IIMC-IP, led an insightful session on the key success elements of investible startups, sharing essential factors that attract investors and drive growth. The day concluded with a super engaging session by Kaustav Majumdar, emphasizing the importance of creating solutions that resonate deeply with customers.

Day 2 commenced with a session on the strategic roadmap of a business, presented by Srikant Sastri. This was followed by a session on branding and promotion by Suman Srivastava. In the afternoon, Prof. Suren Sista from the Department of Marketing at IIM Calcutta, discussed growth strategies for early-stage startups. The day ended with an engaging fireside chat with Hari Balasubramanian, Angel Investor and Mentor.

Day 3 began with Prof. Chandradeep Mitra, leading a two-part session on the customer experience journey. This was followed by a session on achieving product-market fit and scaling up, conducted by T. P. Pratap. The day concluded with an engaging fireside chat with Ajay Jain, Sustainability and Water Expert. 

Day 4 kickstarted with Ajay Jain's session on planning business growth and later that day the mentors performed the diagnostics. 

Throughout the four days, participants had multiple opportunities for networking, facilitating meaningful connections and discussions among the startup founders. Over the next weeks, the cohort will receive more such exposure and networking opportunities.

With a vision of identifying and supporting those building better cities, Josh Talks, supported by Omidyar Network India, launched the second season of #CityChampions in April 2024.

After an intensive 6-weeks of screening, we’ve now selected our cohort of Top 16 urban changemakers who will now undergo the intensive 12-week long capacity building program, designed in partnership with IIM Calcutta Innovation Park. The companies will receive unique opportunities for learning, access to funders, and dedicated mentorship to help their business scale forward.
