Kaizenvest II exits Phinma Education to KKR

We are delighted to share with you an update on our recent successful exit from PHINMA Education (PEHI) in the Philippines, marking another significant milestone in our journey of delivering robust returns alongside meaningful social impact to our investors.

In November 2019, we invested in PEHI, a leader in affordable and superior quality higher education provider in the Philippines and Indonesia. Over our five-year partnership, PEHI witnessed remarkable growth, with key metrics such as doubling student enrolments (from approx. 74k to 146k student enrolments), exceptional board passing rates ( improving from ~47% to 79%), and industry-leading employment outcomes (~80%) showing significant improvement. 

The Fund's investment was matched by an equal commitment from two of our LPs (FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB)) who co-invested alongside Kaizen Private Equity II. Despite Covid-19 disruptions, PEHI not only met, but exceeded its original targets, demonstrating resilient recovery and a steadfast commitment to impactful education solutions.

Being present at AVPN’s annual conference is a habit for us.  It was a pleasure and an honor for us to be represented at the 11th edition that concluded on the 25th of April in Abu Dhabi. 

The Impact Investment Day on April 24th brought together many familiar and new faces.  It’s great to see the impact day already so well attended in its second year. Kudos to Vikas Arora, Xiaoning (Ning) Wu, Komal Sahu, Kevin Teo, Rasikha Venkat and our session coordinators Madhura Badkilaya and Anuja Vekhande for making it all seem so easy.

There were so many takeaways more than adequately captured by the panelists.
