If you’re in the pulp and paper industry, you’re well aware that hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is your greatest enemy – and so, monitoring H2S in both liquid and gas phases at several points is crucial for employee safety and pulp quality. ⚡️ KEY MONITORING POINTS ⚡️ 🔖 Pulping stage: Wood chips are cooked in a chemical solution, producing H2S. Monitoring here ensures employee safety and prevents equipment damage. 🔖 Bleach plant: Chlorine dioxide and other chemicals used for bleaching can produce H2S. Monitoring prevents worker exposure and maintains product quality. 🔖 Recovery boiler: Black liquor is burned to recover chemicals and generate steam, producing H2S.
