#ThrowbackTeamKenaidan – Projects (Ajax Water Supply Plant) The Ajax Water Supply Plant was Kenaidan’s first project in the waterworks sector valued at over $60 million dollars. The Regional Municipality of Durham replaced the existing 45 million litres per day (ML/D) plant with the new 138 ML/D facility. In April of 1996, the project was initiated by demolishing the existing facility and building a reservoir for the new plant capable of holding 9,180 m3 of treated water. The plant consists of filtration process areas, a high lift station, a low lift station, a chemical building, an electrical room, and an administration building. The entire project required 28,000 m3 of concrete that was placed by Kenaidan’s own forces. Located on the shores of Lake Ontario, this project also included hard and soft landscaping to smoothly integrate the structures, new waterfront trail, and park with the surrounding geography and community. Fast forward 28 years, the plant is undergoing a major expansion that will add further capacity for growth in Durham Region when completed. In British Columbia, the City of Pitt Meadows is constructing a new autonomous RCMP Detachment building to provide enhanced police visibility, public safety, service levels, and responsiveness to meet local demands. As part of the project, the existing Harris Road Park washroom had to be replaced with the loss of the athletic building. The old building was demolished and replaced with a new 160 m2 building. Primarily constructed of block wall, the new facility includes a gender-neutral washroom, three standalone accessible washrooms, and a concession stand. Construction began in October 2023 at the same time as the RCMP Detachment. The washroom facility is now complete and was opened to the public on July 24th, ready for the upcoming holiday weekend festivities. #kenaidan #construction #britishcolumbiaconstruction #teamkenaidan
