During their visit, the team experienced Ireland’s expertise in sustainable agriculture and premium food production. Highlights included: 🐄 A farm visit featuring cross-bred cattle (Angus crossed with continental breeds) that produce top-quality carcass and meat, as part of the #OriginGreen sustainability program. 🏭 Tours of Kepak’s Athleague and Longford facilities, showcasing our commitment to transparency, quality, and precision in every step of our slaughtering and cutting processes. 🍽 A memorable meal at Skelly’s Pub in Ballymahon, where the group enjoyed various Irish beef cuts like short rib, striploin, and ribeye, prepared to emphasize the rich flavors of Irish beef. In 2023, Irish food and drink exports to the UK were valued at €5.3 billion in 2023, reinforcing Ireland's position as a key strategic partner to the UK. The Bord Bia UK team recently hosted a networking and insights event, consisting of presentations, panel discussions and a networking lunch. The event served as a strategic review for the UK food and drink industry. Speakers on the day included Professor of International Business at Edge Hill University, Prof Christopher Dent , Kepak CEO, Simon Walker as well as Bord Bia's Donal Denvir , Marian O'Higgins and Cian O Mahony .
