KIRKBI’s strategic activities include 75% ownership of the LEGO Group and 47.5% ownership of Merlin Entertainments plc. The company’s investment activities also include significant long-term investments in companies such as ISS, Nilfisk, Landis+Gyr and Falck as well as real estate investments in Denmark, Switzerland, Germany and the UK.

These days, 80 children from all over the world have come together in the Capital of Children, Billund, for the annual Children’s General Assembly.

They are gathered to share their perspectives on the challenges they face – and how to solve them. Today, they are handing over their shared manifesto to world leaders, and it will also be passed on for the coming 76th UN General Assembly in New York.

Today, we celebrate 90 years of the LEGO® brand on our annual LEGO Play Day together with LEGO colleagues all over the world!  
 
In 1932, when Danish carpenter Ole Kirk Kristiansen crafted wooden toys in his workshop in Billund, it seemed beyond imagination that the LEGO brand would become one of the world’s most loved toy brands and inspire millions of children to play each year. To this day, the LEGO Group is still owned by the family, where 3rd generation owner Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen will soon be passing the helm in KIRKBI to his own son, 4th generation owner Thomas Kirk Kristiansen, Chairman of the LEGO Group.

Following today’s Annual General Assembly in KIRKBI A/S it has been announced that Connie Hedegaard will join the Board of Directors with immediate effect. Also, Niels Jacobsen (Deputy Chairman) will step down from the Board after more than a decade of valuable contribution. 

After the Annual General Assembly, the Board of Directors constituted itself with Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen as Chairman and Michael Halbye as new Deputy Chairman.

Her extensive experience across the private and public sector combined with her in-depth knowledge of sustainability and the green transition introduce valuable competences to the Board that supports the company. The LEGO Foundation, Ole Kirk's Fond, and the LEGO Group have just announced an emergency donation of 110M DKK to support children and families affected by the devastating invasion in Ukraine.
 
With this donation, they will support the people of Ukraine with general humanitarian aid as well as education and protection of children.
