Why work on Knowde?

It’s the beginning of 2024, and it’s an exciting time to be in the chemical industry. New ways to confront artificial intelligence and sustainability have taken the industry by storm, and more suppliers and distributors are joining the race towards digital transformation.

And yet, our core focus at Knowde is product master data. The natural question is: why?

I've been reflecting on this question more over the last year. In short, the answer is what it says on our homepage today: it’s so that you don’t have to. We came out of 2023 with even more affirmation from suppliers and distributors that the core problem holding them back from digital transformation is the organization and digitization of their product data. Failed, delayed or over-budget transformation projects can often be traced back to complex and disorganized product master data. Structuring and digitizing product data has been Knowde’s core competency from inception and we are working tirelessly to empower our customers to take control of their data and use it to drive their digital transformation agendas forward.

The chemical industry is one of the oldest and largest industries in the world and this means that there are decades worth of product data sitting in PDFs, SharePoint drives, data sheets and brochures. After investing in digital transformation roadmaps, suppliers are then realizing that their customer facing and sales enabling platforms are unable to operate when their data doesn’t have standardized attributes or single taxonomic terms across all of their products and regions. On the other hand, distributors are facing increased demands and pressures to collect, organize and analyze product data on behalf of their principals and face the same challenges.
