We're excited to partner with fellow certified B Lab U.S. & Canada certified B Corporation, Maker's Mark Distillery , on two new Bourbon Truffles! Back in October of 2023, our chocolate team traveled to Kentucky to meet Rob Samuels (8th generation distiller) and his team at Maker's Mark. As a newly certified B Corporation, Maker's Mark was on a journey to elevate and improve the portfolio of sustainable gifts available on their Starr Farm campus. Inspired by the natural beauty (not to mention the innovative craft cocktails and aged bourbon tasting) of the distillery, Star Hill Farm, and Heritage Lake, the team returned home to Vermont and set to work on creating a chocolate program to honor the family traditions, heritage, and shared values of these two companies. This Father's Day, we're excited to launch two new gift boxes that blend our iconic truffles with the iconic Kentucky bourbon from Maker's Mark. The simple, yet classy packaging package design takes its cues from the iconic handprinted label Margie Samuels created to honor her husband’s handmade bourbon, which you can see being printed when you visit Star Hill Farm. The care and attention that goes into hand-decorating each and every one of these bourbon truffles evokes the same craftsmanship you can see when watching each bottle of Maker's Mark get its signature red wax dip. We're proud to donate 1% of sales from our Signature Bar line to non-profit programs that strengthen our communities and protect our environment! This year, our donations are funding Project Tocache, a project that will build 50 santiation buildings throughout the Tocache cacao farming cooperative in Peru. Installing sanitation buildings with biodigesters (seen in the pictures) will bring much needed infrastructure, reduce the environmental pollution, and and help clean the water system in the cacao-growing community.
