Delivering Packages in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo

As the ride-hailing industry in Brazil is regaining its momentum, it isn’t uncommon to see drivers switch over to delivering packages as well. Our driver partners find themselves faced with less restrictions and higher safety.

Wanderson de Oliveira was working a steady job when he decided to make deliveries for Lalamove in his downtime to supplement his fixed income. He soon found that the advantages extended beyond monetary benefits. “Renting a delivery truck on my own spared me the hassle of registering my own vehicle. Several friends of mine who were also seeking extra income but lacked their own vehicles found this to be a great solution.”
 
In the case of Rosângela do Amaral, her career took an unexpected turn when the pandemic hit, resulting in the loss of her job. “When I shifted over to this male-dominated delivery industry, personal safety and security were my top priorities. I’m faced with fewer personal interactions and the Lalamove app delivers me real-time dropoff locations, which puts me more at ease.”

Holiday Season Travel Index 

One of the biggest trends we witnessed during the holiday season is a significant increase in outbound travel.

Taking Hong Kong as an example, we experienced this trend firsthand with a substantial rise in delivery orders to the Hong Kong International Airport during last Christmas and New Year. Compared to November of the previous year, we observed an impressive surge of over 30% in orders.

Our numbers also revealed some fascinating travel preferences of residents across Hong Kong’s eighteen districts. Three districts stood out as they seized the opportunity to embark on exciting journeys during the festive season. The number of orders for airport transfers during the Christmas period soared by 87.1% for Wong Tai Sin, 84% for Tuen Mun, and 82.4% for the Southern District. On the other hand, residents in the Northern District and Central and Western District opted for a more relaxed holiday season and chose to celebrate closer to home.

“Move It Forward” with Lalamove Thailand’s Colouring Competition

While the holiday season may have come to a close, we are still committed to carrying on the spirit of giving. In Thailand, our “Move It Forward” CSR campaign invited our driver partners’ children to participate in an exciting colouring competition that showcased their talent and creativity.

At Lalamove, we firmly believe in investing in education, which is why we awarded scholarships to 20 of the talented young artists who participated in the competition and another 20 children with Honourable Mention awards celebrating their artistic efforts.
