LAUFEN’s new MEDA Silent Flush technology minimises noise for the sake of family and neighbours. 

Admittedly, the sound of flushing may not be one of the most important decision criteria. However, after design, comfort, hygiene and durability, it is indicative of the quality of the toilet.

LAUFEN has devised a way to significantly reduce flushing noise, ensuring even more discretion and quiet nighttime trips to the bathroom.

The innovative technology flushes the water powerfully yet quietly in a spiral through the toilet bowl. Water consumption is reduced and bathroom hygiene improved. The dynamic water vortex flushes the toilet perfectly clean with as little water as possible.

To create the necessary swirl of water, the interior of the rimless toilet is specially shaped to direct the water along a perfectly optimised spiral path. The use of Silent Flush does not change anything about the familiar design of the toilet on the outside.  

Available in the wall-mounted toilet in the new MEDA collection, designed by Peter Wirz.

Oliver Leech Architects designed Butterfly House, a new compact home that supports multigenerational living. This future-proofed home enables a family member to reside within the plot of an existing family home. Positioned in the southern tip of the main house’s garden, the new structure occupies a small triangular corner, constrained on two sides.

The interior gives way to large open-plan living spaces, while the exterior is wrapped in burnt Japanese timber cladding that seamlessly integrates with the surrounding trees. The spaces are unified through a restrained material palette, featuring polished concrete floors and pale clay plaster walls, which tie the spaces together and highlight the ceiling structure.

In contrast to the dark exterior, the interior finishes evoke a muted, calm mood, serving as a backdrop to the warm, rich tones of the larch and oak joinery.

Material simplicity extends into the two bathrooms, each illuminated by openable Velux skylights. Mirrors reflect the greenery outside, enhancing the interior’s connection to nature. The inclusion of the Val washbasin and Pro WC adds an understated elegance to the bathroom design.

Popular with architects and designers across the world, the Val collection, designed by Konstantin Grcic, features simple architectural lines, extremely narrow edges with fine surface structures and includes washbasins, WCs, trays, and bathtubs.

LAUFEN is delighted to be at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Swiss Embassy in France, located in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, will set up a temporary structure in its gardens for the duration of the Games. Known as the Maison Suisse (House of Switzerland), the construction will be completed with LAUFEN bathrooms and restrooms.

Sustainability is the linchpin of the design of both the Maison Suisse and LAUFEN. The structure in the Embassy gardens is built from scaffolding, which will be reused and recycled on construction sites after the event while LAUFEN is committed to environmental responsibility at every level, from design decisions and material selection to manufacturing processes and product distribution.

The bathrooms are equipped with Kartell • LAUFEN, a flagship collection characterised by pops of colour paired with right angles and straight lines. The toilets feature low-flush WCs and the faucets have unique water and energy-saving technologies.

The Maison Suisse featuring Kartell • LAUFEN is open to the public to showcase the diversity and richness of Swiss culture, and embrace the spirit of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games with a celebration of team spirit and collective achievement.
