With the four strategies—finding alternatives to petro-based materials, research and development of new materials/chemicals, enhancement of recycling technology, and sustainable manufacturing process—LCY has built the "N-cycles of high-value materials" and “n-cycles of sub-valued materials" to provide products such as electronic chemicals, bio-based chemicals and high-performance plastics.
 
"N-cycles of materials" ensure high-value materials are continuously recycled into same-grade products. When the accumulation of impurities in those materials are too high, they are downgraded into "n-cycles of sub-valued materials."
 
Through the N- and n-cycles of materials, the service life of carbon products can be extended, the dependency on petrochemical feedstock is reduced, and a carbon-neutral future can be achieved.

According to a study by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Nature Resource, at least 14 million tons of plastic end up in the ocean every year. The greenhouse effect produced by the methane and ethylene emitted from plastic degradation is 25 times that of carbon dioxide. 
 
And 20% of the waste that flows into the ocean every year comes from fishing or aquatic activities. Nikkei Asia also pointed out that up to 80% of marine plastic pollution comes from Asia. It is estimated that by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the oceans by weight. 
 
To explore the possibility of solving the problem of #MarineWasteDisposal, #LCY launched the Oyster Farm #MaterialCircularEconomy project in 2018. The float which supports the oyster float is made mainly by non-toxic and odorless expanded polypropylene (EPP) with extra UV-resistant component, allowing stronger durability against sun and degradation by ultraviolet ray and in turn leading to longer service life and less impact on marine life. 
 
EPP is also widely used as buffer packing material for electronic products
 (such as display panels) and the automotive industry. LCY also continues to study the #PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) mechanism of EPP. In the future, we will provide recycled plastic that meet the demand for environmentally friendly products by combining the certified post-consumer recycled polypropylene with virgin plastic.
