"We talk through our experiences, what we see, and our results. We have learned so much from helping firms identify their Value Streams the past numerous years. It’s really important to keep in mind, we do not create development value streams (except for when adding a new one) in an organization. In any organization that is already an ongoing concern, the value streams already exist, we just need to tease it what it looks like. Another element to keep in mind, the generic development value stream always has a trigger, steps for refining the idea, design it, build it, test it, deploy it, release it, and the exchange of value. Every time we help a firm understand, we work hard to ensure the folks we are working with (from the organization) are involved with every step of our workshop. In person, this has always been a bit of a challenge. In our remote world, it becomes a bit even more so. We talk through many of our lessons learned."

Are you a Manager or a Leader? Managers maintain systems, Leaders daily re-invent systems. Management is necessary to maintain the business and keep the lights on. Leadership is vital to understanding the enterprise system used to develop products and solutions, and focuses on constantly looking for ways to improve that system. From much of the feedback we are getting from our clients and students we see the gap between management and leadership widening. Perhaps the uncertain economy, but it seems that those that favor the management style have further tightened their grip, which is enhancing the contrast between management and true leaders. While it appears the group of leaders that forego a Tayloristic approach is shrinking, the value they bring to their companies is gaining in value.
