📢 A team led by Andrew Jennens and Mees Roelofs has advised Citi, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) and Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking on the debt financing of Mubadala Capital’s proposed acquisition of a majority stake in Bugaboo, a global market-leader in strollers and premium children’s consumer products, from Bain Capital. As part of the transaction, Bain Capital will retain a minority stake in Bugaboo.

📢 A team led by Toby Grimstone and Atish Shah has advised Sibanye-Stillwater on the €500m #greenloan financing for its Keliber lithium project in Finland, through its subsidiary Keliber Technology Oy, marking the first European Investment Bank (EIB) financing support for mining critical raw materials in the European Union, which is an important step towards the EU’s clean #energytransition.

The Keliber lithium project is the most advanced lithium project in Europe dedicated to supplying the #electricvehicle #battery sector. Sibanye-Stillwater is planning to implement the best available technologies, combined with the integrated business model and close proximity of mining and refining facilities meaning that Keliber will be amongst the world’s most CO2 efficient producers of lithium hydroxide.

📢 A team led by Elaine Keats and Sirae Chen has advised The World Bank on the issuance of its nine-year US$225m, principal-protected Amazon Reforestation-Linked Bond – the largest World Bank outcome bond ever.

🌲 The bond will provide investors with a coupon that includes a fixed guaranteed component and a variable component linked to the generation of Carbon Removal Units from #reforestation projects in the #Amazonrainforest regions of Brazil. It is the first bond linking investors’ financial return to the removal of carbon from the atmosphere, differing from past transactions linked to the sale of #carboncredits from avoided emissions.

💬 Elaine Keats commented: "The Amazon Reforestation-Linked Bond marks a milestone in aligning private capital with tangible environmental and socioeconomic change. We are pleased to have supported the World Bank on another innovative bond which goes beyond traditional structures to create substantial mutual benefits among financial markets, environmental goals, and community development."
