As reported by Reuters, energy efficiency has been called the “first fuel” of the energy transition by the IEA. And at COP28, at least 118 countries (including the U.S.) signed a pledge to boost energy efficiency rates by 4% each year until 2030. 

What does that look like? Think changing the way we all use energy by opting for more efficient appliances, technology, and electronics. That includes heat pumps and LED lighting. It also means getting better data across your portfolio so you can implement the right solutions to maximize your efficiency and save on utilities.

As Arvin mentioned, many companies are using PPAs to finance renewable energy-generating installations. There is also an increase in companies using Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) and Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) to meet energy reduction goals. I am frequently asked what the difference is between these two models. While ESCOs may seem like the tried-and-true option, the reality is that this program often doesn’t work for Fortune 5000 and other companies with larger real estate portfolios. 
 
In this article, I explain the main differences between ESCOs, EaaS, and other traditional equipment leasing solutions to help determine the right option for your company’s #netzero goals.
