For the past year we’ve been working alongside The Nashville Food Project, Community Connexor, and Nonprofit Equity Collaborative as a collective called Rooted Together Nashville. Our work has been to map and survey food access points in North Nashville. My work is specifically to hire community consultants, nonprofit leaders who are currently providing solutions to the food system. This listening and learning will help us continue to co-design food insecurity interventions alongside the community. As we complete this portion of the grant, given to the Healthy Nashville Leadership Council by the TN Department of Health, we are producing a mini-doc about #NorthNashville food insecurity. We’ve partnered with 353 Media Group to produce this piece that highlights the history, community needs, and systemic barriers for 37208, 37218, and 37207.
