Could #biochar be the secret ingredient for happier, healthier cows and a better environment? 🐮 In collaboration with Envinn AB , Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) , Skånefrö and Hushållningssällskapet Sjuhärad Rådgivarna , Meva Energy is part of a feasibility study focused on using biochar as a feed additive for cattle. Financed by Agtech Sweden this initiative aims to understand biochar’s unique properties to increase animal health and reduce methane emissions. Previous studies show that adding biochar to cattle diets can improve digestion, leading to healthier livestock, reduced methane emissions, and better manure management through reduced odors. 🌱 As biochar producer, Meva Energy initiated this project to deepen our understanding of the climate benefits and additional opportunities this product can provide as a feed additive. The ceramic and glass industries play a crucial role in our everyday life. But, while we enjoy our daily coffee from ceramic mugs, the production process behind them contributes to environmental challenges. These industries, among the most energy-intensive, often rely on fossil fuels, particularly natural gas, for their production processes. The future of biomass is not in the forests, but in the industries, fields and factories where waste materials are already generated. With the European Union’s goal of 42.5% renewable energy by 2030 and climate neutrality by 2050, we are faced with an essential question: How can we best utilize biomass to achieve these ambitious goals without compromising our ecosystems? In our latest debate article featured in Rzeczpospolita , Niclas Davidsson , CEO of Meva Energy, shifting the focus away from forests and towards the industrial, agricultural, and manufacturing sectors where large volumes of biomass waste is a growing issue. A great example is our collaboration with IKEA Industry in Zbąszynek, Poland. By using biomass gasification, we can transform sawdust and leftover MDF fibers from furniture production into renewable bioenergy.
