October brought many rewarding moments. To celebrate the #milestones , and the incredible people who contributed to this journey, here are some key takeaways. First and foremost, Migrevention has been working tirelessly with our UK partners to transform #migraine management for the #10million sufferers across the UK. Our visit to London and Liverpool during the third week of October, as part of the Estonian e-health mission, provided a valuable opportunity to celebrate the progress we've achieved together in person, and make new plans for next steps. 🧠 I am thrilled about the fact that the partners working with us in the UK are as keen as we are to change the current primary headache management pathway towards more digital. 🙏 I am thankful for key opinion leaders in #neurology from #Liverpool and #Oxford who took the time to meet with us, allowing us to build personal and meaningful connections. Special thanks to Prof. Annemarie Naylor MBE DU Essex (Hon.) for being open to innovation in pain field on population scale, and your feedback on Migrevention. 🤗 This year’s #Estonian delegation, including #digitaltransformation leaders like Nortal and Kodality , as well as #healthcare pathway innovators like Better Medicine , Cognuse , Lifeyear , and Migrevention, had a certain magic feel (probably the people 😍 ), which brought a full house of UK counterparts to meet us both in London and Liverpool receptions. Our efforts have been strategically supported by the Embassy of Estonia in London , Invest in Estonia , and EIS . A deep bow of respect to Viljar Lubi , Maarja Pehk , Kai Hughes , Kristi Torim , Agaate Antson , Krista Mihkelsaar , Henri Räim , it is always great to work with you. And I might sound like broken record, but the United Kingdom’s healthcare system is like a layered cake - just when you think you are getting a grip of it, another layer is revealed or added. Today is European Migraine Day of Action - a day dedicated to raising awareness about the silent and often invisible struggles of millions living with #migraine across Europe 🧠 Migraine is not just a #headache ; it’s a debilitating #neurological condition that affects many, yet it remains misunderstood and stigmatized. According to the 2023 #EMHA Migraine & Stigma Survey, which surveyed more than 4,200 people across 17 countries, migraine sufferers experience greater stigma than those living with conditions like dementia or Parkinson’s disease. Many individuals with migraines face not only societal stigma but also a lack of understanding from healthcare providers, family members, and in the workplace. Terms like #chronic , #disabling , and #refractory used to describe migraine often reinforce this #stigma , leading to feelings of anger, isolation, and sadness. We can change this narrative by: - Promoting better education about migraines - Advocating for greater understanding and empathy - Shifting the language used when discussing migraines Migrevention champions a holistic, comprehensive approach to improving the lives of those affected by migraines, raising awareness, and increasing access to professional care.
