According to “Origins of Black History Month” by Prof. Daryl Michael Scott for the Association for the Study of African-American Life and History, Dr. Carter G. Woodson “believed that black history was too important to America and the world to be crammed into a limited time frame. He spoke of a shift from Negro History Week to Negro History Year.” 

As segments of American society continue to invest in mass miseducation of racism’s impact on today’s inequalities, Woodson’s mission of making “Black History Month Every Month” remains relevant after his founding of Negro History Week in 1926.
