The proposed budget amendment suggests that Long Term Capital Gains & Indexation benefits will not be applicable to any capital gains arising from investments made after April 1, 2023, in Non-Equity Mutual Funds, which have a debt investment portfolio of more than 36%.

In order to provide some more time to the taxpayers, the date for linking PAN & Aadhaar has been extended to 30th June, 2023, whereby persons can intimate their Aadhaar to the prescribed authority for PAN-Aadhaar linking without facing repercussions.

The tax rate on Royalties and Fees for Technical Services (FTS) covered under Section 115A has been increased to 20% from the current rate of 10%. However, non-resident taxpayers can still benefit from a lower tax rate under the applicable DTAA between their country of residence and India.

To claim the lower tax rate, non-resident taxpayers who do not have all the details in their Tax Residency Certificate (TRC) would need to submit an online Form 10F from April 1, 2023. To file this form online, they would be required to have a Permanent Account Number (PAN) as per existing provisions.

The GST & Indirect Taxes Committee of ICAI has issued a compilation of 50 Significant GST Judicial and Advance Rulings.

The publication includes summaries of landmark rulings of only the Supreme Court and High Courts as the GST Appellate Tribunal is yet to be constituted. Further, some widely discussed advance rulings having significant implications have also been included in the publication.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has released the notification/scheme for the Centralised Processing of Equalisation Levy Statements furnished under section 167 of the Finance  Act, 2016.

Currently, it was being processed manually by Assessing Officers.
