Morningside Hill Capital Management is an independent investment management partnership founded in 2014. The company focuses on investments in liquid securities and private companies with a long-term investment horizon employing a fundamental, research-intensive approach.

In November 2019, Morningside Hill launched its latest venture capital fund, which is focused on providing growth capital to Bulgarian startup companies. The fund has EUR 38.5 million under management to be invested in equity (or equivalent) minority positions in 25 to 30 companies. The VC fund comprises public funds of EUR 33.3 million provided by the Fund Manager of Financial Instruments in Bulgaria under the operational programme “Innovation and Competitiveness” co-financed by the European Structural and Investment Funds for the 2014-2020 programming period. 

Studies consistently show that diverse teams drive greater innovation and significantly boost revenue, said Ekaterina Velkova, managing partner at Morningside Hill. 

She participated in the panel "How to Stimulate Innovation and Female Entrepreneurship through Female Leadership" at the Green Transition Forum 4.0.

Ekaterina Velkova, a partner at Morningside Hill, will be one of the panelists at the Green Transition Forum organized by DIR.BG, taking place at the Sofia Event Center, June 26-28. Ekaterina will join nine other distinguished panelists for the discussion on “How to Stimulate Innovation and Female Entrepreneurship through Female Leadership.”

The Green Transition Forum 4.0 aims to foster a comprehensive dialogue among key stakeholders from over 15 countries, addressing critical topics such as green financing, energy transition, agriculture and food security, digitalization and cybersecurity, innovation and entrepreneurship, and regional cooperation.

Pavel Velkov, Managing Partner at Morningside Hill, participated in the 10th edition of Startup Ole - the largest European event that meets startups and innovative SMEs with the main players in the international VC and private equity ecosystem.

Two of our portfolio companies - nPloy - Job Matching & Search and ZenART VR - were also part of the Bulgarian delegation organized by the Ministry of Innovation and Growth, Bulgaria and the ИАНМСП (BSMEPA). The Bulgarian participants were engaged in exhibitions, meetings and panels, through which they positioned the country as a place of innovation and investment opportunities.

During the official event program, Pavel Velkov presented the Bulgarian startup and VC ecosystem. He emphasized that over the past few years, the Bulgarian investment landscape has matured, with larger rounds and greater involvement of VC funds. “With its adaptive and supportive landscape, Bulgaria is one of the leading investment hubs in SEE and a popular destination for foreign startups setting up overseas offices.” - he said during the reverse pitch session.

С новото капиталовложение общата сума външни средства в компанията достига 3.7 млн. евро, а #nPloy вече е оценена на 19 млн. лв. Средствата ще се използват основно за постигане на бизнес и маркетинг целите на компанията, твърдят от нея...
