At this year's Naspers Limited Annual Women's Day event, we had the incredible opportunity to celebrate and honour the company's amazing women.  
 
We were thrilled to bring together a dynamic panel featuring Carla Pool from Discovery Vitality alongside our inspiring colleagues, Lynelle Bagwandeen, Zuki Nomnganga, and Mechelle Mochali. Their insights sparked meaningful conversations about how we can all prioritise our well-being. 
 
The highlight of the event was a live cooking demonstration by two talented MasterChef South Africa contestants, Refe Dimbaza and Amogelang Maluleke. They wowed us with their culinary skills and served nutritious and delicious meals.  
   
Throughout August, we will continue to celebrate and showcase the talented young women who are soaring high and 'breaking the code' in the tech sector.

At the recent Information and Opportunities Expo in Johannesburg, hosted by the Motsepe Foundation, our director for Transformation and Naspers Labs, Ashika Kirpal, participated in a panel on ‘Tech for Social Justice’.  
 
The discussion focused on some of the most important and current developments in the tech space and what can be done to create a supportive tech ecosystem for young people in South Africa. 
 
Ashika emphasised the vast potential in areas like AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, and software development, underscoring the importance of equipping young people with relevant digital skills for the future. 
 
Naspers Labs exhibition stand at the event also offered unemployed graduates an opportunity to engage with the teams from partner organisations, Afrika Tikkun Services and CAPACITI, on the available digital skills programmes.

Yesterday, 25 July, marked International Day of the Latin American and Caribbean Black Women in Brazil. In celebration of this significant day, the Pacto de Promoção da Equidade Racial (Pact for the Promotion of Racial Equity) Association hosted the 3rd Black Women’s Forum in São Paulo. 
  
Our very own Phuthi M., South Africa CEO of Naspers Limited, was among the keynote speakers, alongside @Luana Ozemela from @iFood. Addressing an audience of over 800, Phuthi emphasised the urgent need for a steadfast commitment to advancing the role of women of colour in society. 
 
Her call to action is instructive: “We need an unyielding resolve to change the place of women of colour in society in an accelerated way. And this starts with courage—the courage to do what is right. We will continue to break down the barriers that hold women of colour back by building bridges that will carry us forward.”

Earlier today, our Naspers Limited South Africa CEO Phuthi M. participated in a fireside chat with Luana Ozemela, Vice President for Impact and Sustainability at iFood, Brazil’s leading food delivery platform. 
 
They were joined by iFood’s top 50 leaders, including new CEO Diego Barreto, at their HQ in São Paulo, exploring topics on leadership, the social impact and global influence of Naspers, and the importance of D&I in the tech sector. 
 
It was inspiring to examine the similarities between South Africa and Brazil as emerging economies and share experiences navigating similar opportunities and challenges.

Yesterday, we celebrated Nelson Mandela's birthday, now internationally known as 'Mandela Day'. On this day, we offer 67 minutes of our time to give back to society. The number symbolises our great South African leader's years in public service. 

In the spirit of giving back, the Joburg team joined other corporates in the Rise Against Hunger Africa organisation. We packed nearly 6,000 nutritious meals to be delivered to the country's various Early Childhood Development centres.

A special shoutout to Jose-Flori Mulaba-Mukamina for organising this great initiative for us!

Celebrating Nelson Mandela International Day, TEDxJohannesburg hosted a Salon Conference centred on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The event featured an opening panel with Naspers Limited's South Africa CEO Phuthi M. Mahanyele Dabengwa taking part.

Discussing the role of technology in advancing the SDGs, Phuthi emphasised its critical importance, particularly in promoting digital inclusion to support South Africa's youth.
