Recently, our BioBlack TX pigment was used in collaboration with Parley for the Oceans and Sky High Farm Universe in their first-ever Ready-To-Wear collection, made from all natural and biofabricated ingredients.

BioBlack TX performed across a range of versatile, non-harmful biomaterials from our friends at Bananatex® and TômTex Inc. 🖤

The capsule collection was presented at the 2024 #FutureFabricsExpo (by The Sustainable Angle) last month, and we couldn’t be more excited to be part of this #materialrevolution.

Traditional dyeing processes, while effective in producing vivid colours and intricate patterns, have long been marred by significant environmental drawbacks, including excessive water consumption and pollution. 🎨

Did you know that Carbon Black, a fossil fuel-based pigment used in inks, textiles, and more, is highly detrimental to the environment? Annually, about 8.1 million tons of carbon black is produced by burning heavy oil or natural gas, significantly contributing to CO2 emissions.

Recent innovations by our innovators — Nature Coatings and Living Ink — have found a way to create this black pigment by using biobased materials instead.

🪵 Nature Coatings transforms pre-consumer industrial wood waste from the lumber, paper, furniture, and flooring industries into high-performing black pigments using a closed-loop, toxin-free process. 

🦠 Living Ink converts waste microalgae from algae farms into bio-based pigments through an exclusive heating process, turning leftover algae biomass into vibrant black colourants.
