Each year, nearly half the people living with diabetes miss their diabetes eye tests, putting them at heightened risk of losing their vision. That's why we're laser focused on meeting patients where they are, in some of their most trusted healthcare interactions. We're thrilled to expand our partnership with AdventHealth , one of Florida's largest hospital systems and primary care networks, helping them close this critical care gap. Recently, members of the AdventHealth West Florida team stopped by Network Eye to learn more about how simple our AI-enabled eye test is for their patients. And on March 19, we held a mobile testing event at AdventHealth's Pasco Pavilion. We're so excited to partner with Advent, helping more patients get the care they need in a way that is deeply integrated with their trusted primary care providers.

This Black History Month, Network Eye honors and remembers Dr. Patricia Bath. Born in 1942, she was an innovative research scientist and ophthalmologist. As an intern in the 1960s, she served in eye clinics both at Columbia and in Harlem, where she noticed a greater incidence of blindness among patients. This caused her to conduct an epidemiological study which found that rates of blindness in Harlem were twice that of those at Columbia. From this insight, Dr. Bath created a new practice, which she dubbed "community ophthalmology," in which eye care practitioners visited senior living facilities and day care centers to test for eye conditions, saving the vision of thousands of people. Dr. Bath went on to invent a new technology for cataract removal and to serve as the first woman chair of an ophthalmology department in the United States at Drew-UCLA in 1983. We are honored to follow in Dr. Bath's footsteps and continue to celebrate her legacy. #blackhistorymonth

Congratulations to Network Eye founder and co-Chief Medical Officer David Eichenbaum who recently presented advances in gene therapy at the #hawaiianeyemeeting . Dr. Eichenbaum was selected Retina Speaker of the Day with his presentation "Gene Therapy: The Good, the Bad and the Maybe."

Today, on what would have been Dr. King's 95th birthday, we celebrate and honor people and organizations who continue to make strides in racial justice in the Tampa Bay community, including Family Healthcare Foundation , Tampa Family Health Centers , AdventHealth West Florida , CVS Health , AllenTempleTampa , BayCare Health System and our new partner Malouf Eyecare.
