Started in 2008 by and for founders, Newfund Capital is an early-stage VC firm active in France and in the USA. It has developed a strong culture centered around entrepreneurship and encourages initiatives to support the ambitions and the development of its portfolio companies. Newfund has $300 million in AUM subscribed mostly by entrepreneurs and family offices.

Newfund's investment strategy is people-driven, focused on the constant search of entrepreneurs obsessed to realize their vision. We seek to understand entrepreneurs as individuals, appreciate their originality and play to their strengths. Greatness comes in all forms.

We write first checks between $250k and $2M and do follow-ons (we even start at $100k in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region with our NAEH fund). Beyond money, we provide access to our operating team and a strong cross-border ecosystem to help founders find product-market fit and accelerate their growth.

[ 📍 Operating Partners Summit] On June 25th, the #OperatingPartnersSummit organized by the Club des Operating Partners de France Invest took place. Marjolaine CATIL, Operating Partner at Newfund, played a key role in co-organizing this event and presenting the Tech Exchanges initiative.

🚀 Last week, François Veron, Managing Partner at Newfund, participated in the Innovation Brunch event organized by ITONICS - The Innovation OS and Le Village by CA Paris. The event was a gathering of over 30 corporate innovation leaders from diverse industries, all eager to share and learn. 

During his keynote, François explored the parallels between venture capital practices and corporate innovation leadership both aiming for a risk-mitigated approach in building a portfolio of high-risk projects. Sourcing, decision-making processes, support, stakeholder communication... During his keynote, François covered each step of the innovation support journey through the experience of Newfund.

[ 💎 Support Women in Entrepreneurship ] At Newfund, promoting gender diversity is a priority. As a signatory of the SISTA charter and an Investor Ally, we continuously track our data to eliminate bias in our investment process.
Despite their immense talent and potential, women founders are still underrepresented and receive disproportionately less funding than their male counterparts. 

Following last year’s Gender Diversity Report (link in comment) and in line with our commitment to foster diversity in the startup ecosystem, Newfund has developed in 2023 an action plan to promote female entrepreneurship and encourage women founders to seek funding from VCs. Our plan included prioritizing startups co-founded by women to have 25% of initial appointments dedicated to them, with the aim of increasing this percentage in the future.

Here's what we've achieved so far:

📌 Startups co-founded by women represented 17% of the opportunities we received, up from 11% in 2022.

🤝 21% of our first meetings were with female founders, compared to 13% in 2022.

While the percentage of investments in women-led startups has remained stable (13% in 2023, up from 12% in 2022), the increase in our dealflow shows the positive impact of our efforts. 

We remain dedicated to improving these numbers and reach our goal of having 25% of our first meetings with startups co-founded by women in 2024 while maintaining our rigorous standards for the quality of the dossiers we review. We welcome your support in recommending Newfund to female founders.
