🚨 The AI Act Has Entered into Force – What’s Next? 🚨 The EU's AI Act – the first EU law specifically regulating AI – entered into force on August 1, 2024. It introduces a risk-based classification for AI systems (from minimal to high risk), with strict requirements for high-risk applications and penalties up to €35 million or 7% of global turnover. What a day so far at NightWatch 2024 in the Tobacco Theater! The day has been filled with incredible sessions and powerful discussions with top operational technology (OT) security leaders, in which they shared their insights and knowledge on ensuring operational technology cyber-resilience. Today’s key takeaways: ▪️Data is crucial for protecting critical infrastructure. While OT is lagging in AI adoption, attackers are not waiting. Asking the right questions and finding the right solutions is essential. ▪️Resource allocation and economic model shifts are crucial. Security leaders must be aware of the risks and take action. The digitalization of the world increases the need for robust security measures. ▪️The maritime industry has notably higher appetite for cyber risks compared to other key industries. The rate of attacks is increasingly growing. Nixun toimitusjohtaja Teemu Salmi kertoo Ylen tuoreessa haastattelussa, että kyberhyökkäykset kohdistuvat erityisesti tuottavaan teollisuuteen. Järjestelmät lukitsevia kiristyshaittaohjelmia yritetään ujuttaa etenkin kriittiseen infrastruktuuriin. “Tuottavassa teollisuudessa on paljon kehitettävää. Hyökkäykset sinne ovat lisääntyneet ja kiihtyneet tänä vuonna,” Salmi toteaa. Kyberhyökkäysten taustalla on useita tekijöitä, kuten digitalisaatio, geopoliittiset jännitteet ja tekoälyn kehittyminen. “Eri maissa on armeijoita, jotka joka päivä kehittävät kyberhyökkäyksiä,” Salmi toteaa. Yritysten on tärkeää panostaa kyberturvallisuuteen ja varautua hyökkäyksiin. “Pohjoismaista Suomi on kaikista kehittynein tällä alalla, ja täällä varautuminen on aloitettu ajoissa, mutta vielä on paljon tehtävää,” Salmi muistuttaa.
