Après 13 ans de R&D au sein de l’Université de Bordeaux, Nova Carbon vient de lever 1,4 million d’euros pour sortir du laboratoire sa technique de recyclage de la fibre de #carbone.
L’entreprise dirigée par Hugo Cartron ambitionne d'aboutir à un premier semi-produit en fibre de carbone recyclée d’ici 18 mois.
Cette matière dont la demande est croissante dans divers secteurs (#aéronautique, #automobile, #construction, #sport…) est aujourd’hui très peu recyclée, engendrant jusqu'à 20.000 tonnes de déchets par en Europe.

🏢 Les fibres de carbone, dont l’utilisation progresse très fortement, sont pour l’heure peu et mal recyclées. Au regard des coûts - énergétique et CO2 - induits par leur mise en œuvre initiale, Nova Carbon entend faire entrer de plain-pied ce matériau dans l’économie circulaire. The goal of Nova Carbon is to democratise the usage of carbon fibre by creating a variety of high-performing semi-finished products from waste carbon fibre. Nova Carbon has successfully completed its first fundraising round of €1.4M with exceptional partners! 💥

This crucial milestone will allow us to accelerate the development of our patented technology for carbon fiber unweaving and realignment, developed from over 10 years of research at the University of Bordeaux.

🎯 Objectives for the next 18 months:
- Transition from lab scale to pre-industrial scale.
- Develop the first high-performance Nova Carbon® semi-finished product made from recycled carbon fiber.
- Expand our technical team with new, ambitious talents.

A huge thank you to our investors for their trust: AFI Ventures, UI Investissement, NACO, Épopée Gestion, Bleu Capital, and Kima Ventures. And of course, to our business angels from the aerospace and space industry sectors.

A massive thank you to our excellent industrial partners, such as FORVIA, which aims to accelerate the recycling of its carbon fiber tanks, and Epsilon Composite, which aims to integrate our sustainable material into their manufacturing processes.

- the Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine, which funded this research project from the start.

Après plus d’un an d'incubation au sein de Chrysa-link, l'incubateur deeptech d'Aquitaine Science Transfert (SATT Aquitaine), Nova Carbon prend son envol et investit les locaux flambants neufs du Cockpit (Ville de Mérignac).

Nous sommes ravis de rejoindre cette infrastructure d'excellence et de contribuer au développement d'une industrie des matériaux composites plus durable. ♻️
