Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation has signed the first ever subcontract for rock procurement for a U.S. offshore wind farm with Carver Sand & Gravel LLC (“Carver”), a U.S. quarry in the state of New York.

Through this subcontract, Great Lakes will use rock produced in the State of New York to provide scour protection for offshore wind turbine foundations, and substations at Equinor and BP's Empire Wind I and Empire Wind II wind farms.

Lawmakers in Maine on Wednesday passed legislation that would set a 3-gigawatt target for offshore wind deployment off the state's scenic coastline by 2040, a level that could satisfy half of its 1.3 million residents' power needs.

French energy company TotalEnergies does not believe it overpaid for a record-breaking German offshore seabed lease this month, despite industry criticism, CEO Patrick Pouyanne said on Thursday while presenting second-quarter results.

"In Germany, to be clear, we are perfectly in line with our double-digit objective," Pouyanne told analysts, referring to returns on the integrated power business. He also said the company was "absolutely convinced" that German electricity prices would meet its expectations by 2030.
