The company is now preparing marketing approval submissions for the U.S. and Europe. ARC-IM consists of an implantable pulse generator and lead placed near the spinal cord. The Company completed its first-in-human use of the ARC-IM neurostimulator in May 2022. 

ONWARD Medical is headquartered in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. It maintains a Science and Engineering Center in Lausanne, Switzerland, and has a growing US presence in Boston, Massachusetts. The Company has an academic partnership with .NeuroRestore, a collaboration between the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) and Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV).

🎉 Congratulations to our Vice President, Clinical, Regulatory, & Quality, Dr. Erika Ross Ellison, for her recent election as President of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS), the world’s largest international society of biomedical engineers. 
 
We proudly celebrate Erika’s historic achievement. Her election marks the first time in the 72-year history of IEEE EMBS that a leader from industry will serve in this volunteer position. Erika will be the 7th woman in the society’s history to lead the organization.

“There is no protocol for this. You must figure it out every day...” 
 
Kevin Babington, a former Olympian and equestrian champion with an SCI, and his wife Dianna recently shared a glimpse into their daily lives with our ONWARD team. Kevin had just experienced a medical setback and the resulting emotions were clear in our candid conversation about the struggles for people living with spinal cord injury.
 
Dianna openly shared how their lives have changed since Kevin’s injury during the 2019 Hampton Classic Horse Show. “There is no more cuddling on the couch, no spontaneous trips…it is everyday grinding, even with all the support that we have found within our community.” Dianna’s testimony was gripping and demonstrated a deep vulnerability that both moved and motivated us. 
 
Despite their challenges, Kevin and Dianna are optimistic things will get better and said they are cheering for companies like ONWARD that are dedicated to making new solutions a reality. ✨ Thanks to De 7, the podcast from Belgian newspaper De Tijd, for its deep dive on brain-computer interface (BCI) technology. The episode, which was in Dutch, examined the buzz behind last week’s news about Neuralink’s first human implant, what it means, and the opportunities for investors.
