We would like to thank the team of Jason Goertzen, David Joseph and Peter Thomassen for their research and PowerDNS guest post on the PowerDNS Blog.

In 2022 , Peter, together with Matthieu Grillere and Nils Wisiol, tested and evaluated PowerDNS as the basis for an implementation of post-quantum DNSSEC signing with the FALCON-512 algorithm.

Now, two years on, it is time for a follow-up post to evaluate how quantum-resistant signature algorithms perform in real world DNS.

Important update for our PowerDNS community users: you have most likely heard that, both Debian 10 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 (and, with it, CentOS 7) have reached the end of their Security Support (or, in the case of Debian, Long Term Support).

As we do not want to support our software running in unpatched environments, we will no longer guarantee builds of our PowerDNS open source software and, after November 2024, we will start removing all repositories for these unsupported distributions from https://hubs.li/Q02HWVBW0.

We recommend that you upgrade to supported operating system versions, such as Debian 11 or 12, or RHEL 8, 9, or any of the popular derivatives of RHEL.
