Our mission is to bring balance back into our food system by offering delicious and healthy seafood alternatives.

In May 2022, Ordinary Seafood set out to change the way we harvest and consume seafood to reduce the burden on our oceans and planet. Leveraging the best of plant-based technology, we launched two award-winning products, Ordinary Tuna and Smoky Salmon, which quickly won the hearts and palates of consumers around Germany. Launching in METRO nationwide and distributed by Food Service's best, including among others Chefs Culinar, Nordische Food Service, Frischdienst, and Vegilife, none of this would have been possible without an incredible team and partner network. Despite incredible customer feedback and traction, the funding landscape has dramatically changed. As a result, we have had to make the incredibly difficult decision to wind down operations and let go of our outstanding team. None of this would have been possible without the amazing teamwork from Dr. Fabian Machens , Head of R&D; Jeanette Krüger , Head of Operations; Sophie Glaser , Head of Sales; and Romina Aufieri , Food Technologist. As a firm believer in the mission to keep finding ways to improve the global food system and fight climate change, I would absolutely love for my network to help find these dedicated, talented and sheer-awesome individuals their next riveting career. Our founder Anton Pluschke , was born in Cairns, Australia, a stone's throw away from the UNESCO protected Great Barrier Reef 🌊 🐠 Audrey Azoulay , Director-General of UNESCO , recently shared: The Great Barrier Reef is a fragile jewel of world heritage. For many years, UNESCO has not ceased alerting the world to the risk of this site losing its universal value forever. We have proposed several concrete measures which provide a roadmap for tackling the problem. I am delighted that the dialogue between our experts and the Australian authorities has now resulted in a set of formal commitments.
