On the 4th January 2023 #OCTP submitted a combined clinical trials application for the lead programme, OCT461201, to the UK Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and Wales Research Ethics Committee. 

This follows the successful completion of OCTP's extensive pre-clinical work on OCT461201, under the Group's £2.6 million contract research agreement with Aptuit (Verona) SRL.

This Phase I first-in-human clinical trial, due to commence in Q1 2023, which is being funded entirely from OCTP's existing resources, will be conducted in the UK in healthy volunteers, with a single ascending dose. The trial aims to demonstrate safety and tolerability, whilst also providing pivotal information on its pharmacokinetic profile, to confirm its value as a potential drug. The clinical trial is anticipated to complete within Q2 2023.

#OCTP announces a positive trading and operational update for the six months ended 31 October 2022, highlighting continued progress as the lead candidate nears the commencement of clinical trials.
 
Financial and operational targets remain on track and on budget, and the Board remains confident that the Company will achieve the milestones set out in the current development timeline.

The study will target pain relief in those suffering from chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and results are expected to be published in April.
