Last week, we had the pleasure of attending the Visionaries: Women Leading the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Industry hosted by Landry/French Construction Company . It was inspiring to hear industry leaders Kylie Mason, RLA, LEED-AP ( Sebago Technics ), Ellen Belknap, AIA, LEED AP, NCARB ( SMRT Architects & Engineers ), Tasha Gardner ( Sargent ), Kelly Flagg ( Associated General Contractors of Maine ), and THERESA THOMPSON ( Standard Waterproofing Inc ) share their unique journeys, challenges, and strategies for success in this male-dominated field. There was so much wisdom and motivation from these trailblazing women. We are grateful to have been part of this important conversation about supporting and advancing women in AEC careers.

New Project Alert! We proudly announce that PCM Company teamed with WSP in the U.S. , has been awarded a contract for the Amtrak Stations Design and Delivery IDIQ. Since 2015, PCM Company has partnered with WSP USA, Inc. on various Amtrak projects, providing expert cost estimating and schedule support. We are excited to continue our collaboration under this new contract in the coming years. Together, we’ll support Amtrak’s SD&D Department, delivering innovative solutions to help ensure projects are completed on time and within budget as they enhance and modernize critical transportation infrastructure. Onward to more successful projects!

In 2022, PCM Company partnered with Trillium Engineering Group to provide cost-estimating services for the historic Abyssinian Meeting House in Portland, ME. Built-in the 1820s by free African Americans, the Abyssinian Meeting House is the oldest African American church in Maine and the third oldest in the country. It is one of only two Underground Railroad sites in Maine recognized by the National Park Service. Remarkably, it is one of the few buildings that survived Portland's Great Fire of 1866. Over the years, the Meeting House has served various purposes, including a church, a social and political hub for Portland's Black community, and a public school for black children (one of only five in the USA). It was also home to the Anti-Slavery Society and the Women Benevolent Society. Nearly two centuries after its construction, the building is being renovated and revitalized. Once complete, it will serve as a space for lectures, exhibits, art and culture events and provide learning labs for students and educators.

Things are happening down by the seashore…No, Sally isn’t selling seashells. The Manasquan Sea Watch Recreation Building is nearly complete! In 2012, Hurricane Sandy did a number on the New Jersey shore including destroying the Sea Watch, a former restaurant and outdoor eating area. The building has now been transformed into a vibrant two-story facility for the public. With locker rentals, beach concessions, a sundries store, public restrooms, and a deck for dining, the new space will be the perfect destination for beachgoers. Public access has been enhanced with improved pedestrian walkways, expanded bike parking, and more parking. We are proud to have worked with Imperial Construction and Electric to support them with cost estimating and scheduling services during construction. Check out the progress.

As cost estimators and schedulers, we've contributed to over 500 projects across 39 states. Not only have these projects ranged in size, but our services have also. Working with architectural and engineering teams at every design stage, assisting contractors during the bidding process, and supporting teams through construction. We are especially honored to have worked at every VA location within VISN 1 and VISN 8 on various jobs, from minor renovations to massive expansions, new construction, and entire campus building assessments. We look forward to continuing to support our clients with projects that support the veteran community.
