Penn Electric Racing | 466 followers on LinkedIn. Penn Electric Racing (PER) is the University of Pennsylvania’s Formula SAE Electric Team. We built America’s fastest student-designed racecar with a 0-60 time of 2.6 seconds – that’s acceleration faster than freefall.

PER has enjoyed a legacy of success: in the past three years, we placed 1st overall two times at America’s premier student racecar competition, FSAE Lincoln, and won over 20 trophies in total.

On Friday, Penn Electric Racing revealed their REV9 race car which will participate in the Formula SAE competition this year against over 80 teams. The new model features many updates including a planetary gearbox, more efficient energy storage, a battery management system, a new dashboard display, and a new custom motor controller. Penn Electric Racing is a student-run team that has grown from a handful of engineers in 2013 to over 100 members this year. The group is one of the most successful in North America, having won 39 trophies and previously holding the North American 0-60 mph acceleration record of 2.6 seconds.
