No truer words were spoken by Christopher Caldwell, one of 24 people who recently graduated from Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s #PowerPathway Entry to #ElectricOperations cohort, held at #Oakland’s CYPRESS MANDELA TRAINING CENTER. 

More than 1,200 applied to take the eight-week, free and unpaid #training, which included classroom and hands-on learning. All #graduates, which included eight women, will be placed as #ibewlocal1245 Hiring Hall coworkers in #electric Field Operations, #generalconstruction and #substation. More than 320 local residents (88% who’ve self-identified as ethnic minorities and 27% as females) have graduated from the 13 Cypress Mandela-PowerPathway cohorts and currently work for PG&E. 

Overall, 87% of #powerpathway graduates have been placed in the #construction utility industry, 69% self-identifying as #minorities, 48% as #militaryveterans and 13% as #females. Learn more about PowerPathway: www.pge.com/powerpathway
