Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) is a US-based pharmaceutical company that is building a Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy manufacturing facility in Leiden, Netherlands. The facility will develop and manufacture CAR T-cell therapy for patients with blood cancers, such as leukemia. BMS aims to expand its global network and bring cell therapy closer to European patients through this facility.

Time flies! It's been one year since MAIA announced the first patient dosed in THIO-101 clinical trial. The patient continues to be alive and has been free of disease progression for 10.2 months since concluding treatment with THIO and an immune checkpoint inhibitor, without any additional treatment.

Of the first 11 patients enrolled in THIO-101 to complete at least 1 post baseline response assessment, 82% met the primary endpoint of disease control (defined as a Complete Response, Partial Response, or Stable Disease). In similar pre-treated patients, the disease control rate is typically in the 25-35% range.

The first two patients dosed with THIO continue to be alive, 12.2 and 11.5 months from treatment initiation. They have remained free of disease progression for 10.2 and 8.5 months, respectively, without requiring any additional therapy. MAIA has patented a new molecular entity candidate, MAIA-2021-029, for further advancement into preclinical and other studies.

This is the newest addition to MAIA’s Telomere-Targeting Molecule Program, which includes THIO, the lead therapeutic candidate currently being evaluated in a Phase 2 clinical trial, and in-house developed compounds MAIA-2021-020 and MAIA-2022-012, patented in 2022.
