Today we announced our results for the first nine months of 2024, showing steady increase in operating profit and strong growth in net profit and life & health’s new business value (NBV). ✨ Key Highlights: - Operating profit and net profit rose 5.5% YoY and 36.1% YoY to RMB113,818 mn and RMB119,182 mn, respectively. - Achieved an annualized operating return on equity (ROE) of 15.9%. - Revenue increased 8.7% YoY to RMB861,817 mn. - Our three core businesses—life and health, property and casualty, and banking—delivered RMB119,651 mn in operating profit, up 5.7% YoY. - Life & health achieved high-quality development with NBV reaching RMB35,160 mn, up 34.1% YoY and NBV per agent up 54.7% YoY. - Nearly 63% of our 240mn retail customers used services from our health and senior care ecosystem. As China effectively implements a series of incremental policies, the country’s growth momentum will gradually strengthen. Exploring ways to promote wellness of seniors through the visual medium of films. Ping An recently hosted a videography project on the occasion of the Pingyao International Film Festival (PYIFF), held in Pingyao, a magnificent city with 2,700 years of history in Shanxi, China. The project showcased films telling real stories of senior care in China. One highlight was a documentary, “Old Home, New Life," capturing how technology empowers seniors to live fulfilling lives and pursue their passions. “Insurance plus services” is the future market trend, shaped by changing customer needs and the aging population. Our Co-CEO, Michael Guo, highlighted during the 2024 interim results presentation how we are upgrading our traditional wealth protection offerings to incorporate health and senior care services to increase customer satisfaction, and grow our business. For the first half of this year, nearly 70% of our life insurance new business value came from customers entitled to our health and senior care services. Thanks to our “integrated finance + health and senior care services” strategy, the first half of 2024 has seen better customer acquisition as the proportion of high-end new customers (with paid Life premiums of RMB300,000 and above) entitled to senior care services grew to 77% from 54% year-on-year. As we continue to expand the footprint of our home-based senior care services from 64 cities to nationwide coverage, there is huge potential to bring in more high-value customers. 📢We just released our 2024 interim results. Our net profit rose 6.8% YoY to RMB 74,619 million, demonstrating strong resilience and steady performance despite multiple headwinds. By continuously focusing on our core businesses and strengthening our “integrated finance + health and senior care” strategy, we delivered significant positive results. 💰Stable cash dividends amid steady business results: The core businesses (Life and Health, P&C, Banking) delivered RMB79,565 million in operating profit, up 1.7% YoY. Ping An will pay an interim dividend of RMB per share in cash. 📈Life & Health insurance continues to grow with high-quality development in its agent channel: NBV amounted to RMB 22,320 million in the first half of 2024, up 11.0% YoY. Agent productivity continued to increase, with NBV of the agent channel up 10.8% and NBV per agent up 36.0% YoY. 👥The “Integrated finance + health and senior care” strategy continuously acquires new customers and cross-sells with existing customers: Retail customers increased to 236 million; 24.9% held four or more contracts within the group, with a retention rate of 97.8%. Customers entitled to service benefits in the health and senior care ecosystem accounted for over 68% of Ping An Life’s NBV. Positive results in insurance funds investment: The insurance investment portfolio achieved an annualized comprehensive investment yield of 4.2%, up 0.1 pps YoY.
