Why are we #SettingTheStandard and sharing our sustainability initiatives? It’s simple – we see the olive oil farming and production process as an opportunity to chart a new path to a sustainable future, keeping our promise to people and our planet. Our hope is to inspire and encourage the olive oil industry to join us!

Last month, we successfully completed the inaugural Maryland Innovation Lab, which partnered Maryland-based corporations with startups to explore cutting-edge solutions to reduce our environmental footprint. For 10 weeks, we worked with a global startup specializing in high-performance biomaterials and the results have been incredibly promising. “At Pompeian, sustainability is at the core of everything we do,” says Casey Smith, our Director of Innovation." Our collaboration through the Maryland Innovation Lab has not only helped us accelerate key R&D efforts, but it ensures we stay at the forefront of sustainable practices in the food sector.” Thanks to Maryland Department of Commerce , World Trade Center Institute and L Marks for organizing this program. We look forward to continuing our journey of innovation and sustainability, shaping a greener future for the olive oil industry and beyond.

Yesterday, our Chief Executive Officer, Mouna Aissaoui, joined Maryland Gov. Wes Moore , His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, and a select group of Maryland CEOs and executives from various industries to discuss and learn more about trade, investment, and partnership opportunities between Maryland and Jordan. We’re honored to have Mouna represent Pompeian on a global stage to pledge our commitment to the people of Baltimore and the state of Maryland.

Last weekend, our very own Teresa Garcia López , and our partners from Sunrise Olive Ranch, Lorena Antoun and Javier Fernando Navarro, were honored to attend the International Olive Sustainability Conference at Olive Center at UC Davis , where we shared our commitment to sustainability through the Sustainably Grown® Certification from SCS Global Services . This independent third-party certification reflects our dedication to the environmental, social and economic pillars of sustainability. We're in the process of certifying all our farms, ensuring our olive oil production supports a healthier planet. A big thank you to UC Davis and all the participants for the insightful discussions. We're excited to continue working toward a sustainable future! 🌎

It is with deep sadness that we share that David Bensadoun, Co-CEO of Pompeian, passed away on July 26, 2024, after a valiant and determined battle with cancer. David passed away at his home in New York surrounded by his parents, children and loved ones. At Pompeian’s helm, David inspired and led The Olive Oil People – a team of hundreds of farmers, craftspeople and staff here in Baltimore and around the world. David was loved and respected for his uniqueness, enthusiasm, boundless energy, values and wisdom. His passion for helping people eat and live well served as the heartbeat of our company, and his integrity, strength, and love are part of the immense legacy he is leaving— as well as his beautiful children, his countless friendships, and deep love for us, The Olive Oil People. A celebration of David’s inspiring life will be held at the Pompeian Baltimore headquarters in early August.
