The cost of hardband re-application can be very expensive if the previous hardband must be removed before re-application can proceed.

Our July Bulletin discusses testing of hardbanding materials. There are accepted tests (ASTM G65 Abrasion testing for example) that give an indication of product performance. There is no better test than a downhole trial to compare products with each other, but it must be conducted properly.
