Our mission is to accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy. We do this with AEM Electrolyzer (Anion Exchange Membrane) technology that cost effectively and efficiently converts renewable electricity and water into high pressure hydrogen.

Today, we are announcing pilot results we are incredibly proud of. 
 
As we scale our low-cost, renewable energy compatible #electrolysis  technology to industrial scale, we’ve achieved significant results in phase I of our pilot with the Free Electrons Program utilities American Electric Power, EDP, E.ON, and ESB. While operating with utility-provided wind and solar profiles, P2H2’s AEM electrolyzer stack and system met the degradation rates of commercially available PEM and Alkaline technologies. The tests ran for over 1,000 hours with variable renewable energy loads. 
 
Meeting the durability levels of commercially available electrolyzers is critical for AEM technology to realize its potential as a decarbonization solution. Achieving these results in Phase I will enable P2H2 and its utility partners to start project work on delivering the first industrial scale AEM stack to a customer site before the end of the year. Thanks to Plug and Play Tech Center for inviting P2H2 VP of Business Development, Alex Zorniger, to speak at the Plug and Play Smart Cities event earlier this week! It was a great event, bringing regional utilities, governments, and public services together to design efficient and sustainable communities for the future. We enjoyed the opportunity to speak about how these groups should be thinking about hydrogen for their energy storage and large-scale mobility needs. Hello Europe 🇪🇺 🇧🇪. Big news for our company today. We have signed a contract with the Port of Antwerp-Bruges to install our first industrial scale AEM electrolyzer in a relevant industrial environment! Site prep is already underway, and this project should mark the first commercial installation of an industrial scale AEM electrolysis stack in the world. The project is also being supported by the Free Electrons Program and leading global utilities American Electric Power, EDP, E.ON, and ESB.

The Port of Antwerp is an ideal location our first industrial scale system. The port already has a large local market for hydrogen and will be a major hub for hydrogen in the future. Our goal is to demonstrate the technology in this industrial environment, then establish larger operations in the port. This project will also serve as a major piece of validation for our larger clean hydrogen projects across the globe. Thank you to Marleen Ramakers, Dries Van Gheluwe, and Philip Huybrechts for guiding our project through the approval process at the Port.

Yesterday, we received an email that we’ve been waiting for since last July, but also working towards since we founded Power to Hydrogen 5 years ago in 2019. Power to Hydrogen is an awardee on the most substantial U.S. hydrogen R&D program in history! We'll be receiving $6.6M in funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to optimize electrolyzer cell components for high volume, lower cost manufacturing. These innovations will be critical in making clean hydrogen a commercially viable decarbonization option. 

The technical team at Power to Hydrogen has been making incredible progress pushing electrolyzer technology forward and now we’ll be able to bring these innovations to the industrial scale. It was great to have our partners from American Electric Power, EDP, E.ON, and ESB visit to review the results of our recent pilot with the companies. These companies are leading the industry in many ways when it comes to defining how hydrogen can support the development of the reliable, affordable, and clean energy grid. More exciting announcements to come as we push forward with these groups!

We are excited to officially announce our upcoming $6.6M U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) project to scale low-cost, renewable load following electrolyzers to the gigawatt scale. We'll be working with academic and industry leaders in the field of electrolysis and manufacturing scale up, including Re:Build AppliedLogix, LLC, De Nora, Bettergy Corp., Carnegie Mellon University, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, Lorain County Community College, and Ohio Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Coalition.
